Emery Forney falls into a world where Fairies exist.

He died in his old world, a happy man, surrounded by the wife and daughters he loved. Now he has to figure out what to do, why he's here and why was he changed into this form. This world isn't all about fluttering and just playing around.

With squirrels that are big as trucks and Ogres and Trolls that are even bigger, being small isn't easy. But it's not all just about the other taller races here, not all Fairies are pretty, delightful creatures.

There is an evil growing in the forest, and there are spirits controlling his fate and pushing him to some unknown destination, which he can only hope is good. The change in his body would obviously bring changes to him, the change of his gender brings an entirely different set. Not all the Fairy cities are progressive, some are even less so than the world he left.

Accepting oneself, mentally, physically and emotionally can be a harrowing journey enough. He finds himself sweep along by fate through three Fairy cities, each that brings its own type of problem to his new life. Some specific to his new, curvier, self and others more systemic of their society. Added to that, he is penniless and without family here.

Sometimes you have to accept the world around you and sometimes you have to change it. Sometimes it changes you. Sometimes you find new love despite everything.

On Fairy Wings eBook Michael Y Katz

This story chronicles the second life of a man who is birthed from a cocoon as a voluptuous naked female fairy. The pace and mood of the story vary with the change of settings in the world that Emery now Emma finds herself. I love reading a variety of stories based on mythological creatures. Parts of the story focused well on the fantasy different world aspect and other parts were more like reading about humans with a light alien veneer.
The characters didn't seem all that complex, but the epic journey that the protagonist surviving and adapting was. Emery who in his first life was secure with who he was has quite struggle with living life as a new creation.
I enjoyed the variety of thematic and conceptional switches of the story. It helped keep the story fresh with the different directions of emphasis. In switching, understand that some aspects in the plot that seemed like they are/were so important give way to other issues focused on by the main character.
Midway to the end of the story, there are a number of editorial mistakes (correctly spelled words, but not the right word). While I am able to quickly filter and compensate for these, I know based on other reviews for books that some readers are not so inclined. I would hate for what I thought to be a great story to be passed over due to future reviews by others dinging the book just based on these. I recommend to the author going through the painful process of reading each sentence aloud to catch these.
I enjoyed riding along in the journey as presented through the eyes and mind of the main character. I recommend this for those who would love an Wonderful World of Oz type story were there is no waking up or magically going back to Kansas.

On Fairy Wings eBook Michael Y Katz Reviews

This was an interesting book about self acceptance. It's not everyday that you die a 70+ year old man to wake up in the body of a 20 something year old bombshell fairy. Overall, I thought the story was well done. I will say that I liked the way this story went, there was a lot of almost moments where things spiraled out of control only to be reigned in at the last minute. I also like the fact that Emmy had to learn how to overcome a LOT of the issues that were socially induced as well as self-induced. A very strange fate Emmy had. Overall, the reason I'm giving this 4 stars is due to the way the book ended. There was a LOT left unsaid at the end, and there were a ton of plot lines left unfinished that could have easily spawned a 2nd or 3rd book with the pacing that was already set in this one. Other than that, I rather enjoyed reading this and I find myself liking Mr. Katz style of writing more and more. Also, if you're looking for a book that's not sex heavy (well, as far as Katz book goes), this would def be one of them.
Wow. The author had an interesting idea where he had an elderly man pass away, but almost immediately reincarnate as a tiny blond haired faerie with all of his memories from his old life.

It was an idea with a ton of potential. And yet, I can completely understand the poor grades this story has received.

I think I can pin the problem on 3 areas.

1) the author really over emphasized some of the physical changes. Emmy constantly worried about how her body looked and how to do things with a body he/she wasn't familiar with. It was understandable, but it dragged the story down quite a bit.

2) The author seemed to want to have a romance stuck in and one between Emmy and a male faerie, but the approach was so contrived as to leave the romance out of the story. It didn't feel real and it never seemed to fit the character.

3) There is no ending, partly because there is no real conflict in the 3rd act. This was probably my biggest mark against the story. It builds up decently, especially at the start before Emmy runs/is chased away from the first faerie "nation" she visits. But once you leave there, it almost seemed like there was no direction. And after Emmy leaves the second nation there is no real "enemy'. Yes, there are primal forces that demand a response, but they aren't living, breathing enemies. And the nature of the tale meant that the couldn't feel like Emmy and the other characters were fighting against nature. They seemed to just be preparing for something that would or would not destroy them depending on the author's whim.

In the end I just think the writing was weak. Michael did not look into where he wanted to take this and the whole story suffered
The author took what could have been a very likable and fun story and trashes it with terminology that had me wanting to throw my kindle at the wall in frustration. He supposedly had a wife and three daughters but seemed constitutionally incapable of calling breasts breasts. He called them udders, flesh melons, flesh bags, sweater puppies, massive mammaries, melon tits and several other names. We got it after the first description, you wrote her with hugely oversized breasts, you didn't need to constantly beat us over the head with it every other paragraph.

S/he, the MC seemed just willfully stupid most of the time. Maybe it got better further into the book, I don't know, I stopped reading at chapter 9. This type of character is not endearing, its distracting and takes away from the story when you're yelling in your head, or out loud at times p "how can you be so stupid" while reading about the character doing something or saying something no normal semi intelligent person would ever say or do. It finally got to the point I stopped reading and deleted the book in disgust.

I'm sure there are people who will like this books puerile story, it's just not for me.
